LED Bulb Replacement Home

If you have a LED bulb which is made up a network of LEDs, or you have a LED display, or a LED bar, or LED scrolling sign, you must be aware that at times that all these products are made up of a hoard of LEDs. Out of all the LEDs that make an LED product, even if one of the LED bulbs blows out it causes a glitch in the whole LED product. Fortunately you can replace the LED bulb that has blown out. You can take the following steps to ensure how it is done.

LED warranty – First look out whether the LED product whose bulb you want to replace comes with a warranty. If it comes with a warranty, please contact a manufacturer first and learn from him what steps you should take with the LED product, whether you should replace it yourself, or send it back tot them.

Opening the LED product – Most of the LED products come with a back shield which covers the LED components in the LED product. Either they have screws, or they have locks to hold the back shield to the LED product. If it has screws you must unscrew the product from those screws, and if there are locks, you must open the locks by a clip or a screwdriver.

Inside the LED product – When you are able to see the inside of the LED product, go quickly to the LED bulb that you want to replace. Once you chose the LED bulb, look whether its solder is loose. If its solder is not loose, and its connection is stable, then it has blown itself off.

Taking the replacement bulb out – Take out a soldering iron, or a hot air gun, and gently take out the replacement bulb from the LED product. Please de-solder gradually, and if you are using a hot air gun, do not point the hot air towards other LEDs. Desolder at the right temperature.

Checking the blown LED bulb – When you have followed the LED bulb replacement procedure up to this point, you will need to check whether the blown bulb is really blown. Check it out by either using a battery, or by using a multimeter.

Check the new bulb – Take out the new bulb from your kit, the one you want to replace the old one with, and check out whether it is alright.

Check your circuit – For bulb replacement it is very important to know why the bulb that you want to replace got blown. It could be of two causes – either because of the bulb’s own fault, or a shaky circuit. Check out the circuit, and if there is problem in the circuit, your new bulb will also get blown. The circuit must be mended first, and then the new bulb replacement made.

Soldering the new bulb – After you have checked the circuit, and the new bulb, you are ready to replace it. Do it by soldering it to its position either with a soldering iron or hot air gas.

Switch on the LED product after you have soldered the replacement bulb to its base. If the product is working alright now, put back the shield in the same way as you opened it up. Your LED bulb replacement is over, and you can display your LEd product again.
